My waste - Pays de Gex

If you have a garden, get a compost bin

You can compost on-site which means cutting your transport emissions as you don’t have to take your garden waste to the tip. It also means less waste in your bin and it produces natural fertiliser that you can use in the garden.

Click HERE for full information about composting.

Compost bins look better than compost piles, save space, keep the area clean and speed up fermentation. Pays de Gex Agglo helps fund the project for residents living in its 27 towns and villages.

Use the online form to order your wooden compost bin.

What the law says about burning waste:

The general public is not allowed to burn any waste, including garden waste. It must be disposed of at a recycling centre or re-used on-site*. This applies to grass cuttings, dead leaves, pruned greenery, hedge cuttings, ground clearance, peel etc.

The Town Hall’s hygiene department may step in if residents don’t follow the rules. Not only does burning waste cause issues with neighbours (smell, smoke) and a fire risk, it also causes air pollution. Fly-tipping is not allowed under any circumstances.

*You can recycle garden waste by composting or mulching it.
