Commercial waste

Pays de Gex Agglo provides a range of services for commercial waste. Any recyclable waste or refuse equivalent to household waste produced by your business can be collected by the council or private companies. Here’s the information you need.

Non-hazardous industrial waste collection (NHIW)

NHIW is collected the same way as for the general public: either in the bin or in a nearby recycling bin.

Door-to-door collection

The bin lid must close. Overfilled bins put out for collection will be emptied and billed at twice the rate.

Non-conforming, damaged or overfilled bins will not be emptied. You will get a sticker if your bin is not emptied due to overfilling.

You can request extra collections for NHIW on an occasional or regular basis if your local collection days are insufficient. Specific prices apply.

Is your bin too small ? Put it out for collection more often or switch to a larger model.

NB : bins must not contain garden waste, rubble or bulky items. This type of waste must be disposed of at the recycling centre.

Local recycling bin collection

Subject to requirements and where the bins are located, businesses can use a nearby recycling bin to manage their NHIW. Recycling bins are suitable for 40l or 100l bags. A fob is required to open them and they are available 24/7.

Billing

Like the general public, NHIW is subject to an incentive fee.

Recycling centre access

The 4 local recycling centres are open to businesses (exc. Saturday and Sunday which are solely for the general public).

Professionals (tradesmen, shop owners, companies, charities, public services, councils) must pay to access recycling centres and must live in one of the 27 Pays de Gex Agglo towns and villages, work on behalf of the general public or companies based in one of these towns or villages.

You must show the caretaker at the recycling centre your company registration certificate (KBis) to gain entry.

You must pay for a right of disposal to dispose of your commercial waste. The payment amount is based on the type of waste, agreed by the Pays de Gex Agglo and displayed on-site.

  • Vehicles up to 3.5 tons are allowed on-site.
  • Up to 1m³ of rubble is allowed.
  • No hazardous waste, tyres, batteries, engine or cooking oil allowed.
  • For large quantities of waste or any waste prohibited by the council’s recycling centres, businesses can visit the private Nabaffa platform in Saint Jean de Gonville to dispose of rubble and the AWT-Valterra compost facilities in Versonnex and Péron to dispose of garden waste in excess of 1m³.
